Substance Abuse Prevention Services (SAPS)
$795,253.00
The expectation of this funding is to create awareness and increase readiness by disseminating information to communities about substance use disorder. In addition, this grant provides for evidence based prevention education programming, development of coalitions for mobilizing communities against substance use disorder, and implementation of prevention strategies that improve community norms. Finally, this grant helps to identifiy problem behaviors and appropriately refer those individuals for services.

WV Collegiate Initiative to Address High Risk Substance Use (WVCIA)

This funding specifically aims to prevent or decrease opioid use, underage drinking, intravenous drug use, and marijuana use among high-risk WV students ages 17-20 through selective and indicated prevention strategies informed by the Strategic Prevention Framework; local, state, and federal level data; and targeted and culturally appropriate evidence based practices.

Strategic Prevention Framework - Prescription Drug Abuse (SPF-RX)

This 5 year grant is focused on the prevention of prescription drug use and misuse as well as overdose in 13 counties using SAMHSA’s opioid toolkit and two (2) new websites:

State Opiate Response Grant (SOR)
$278,494.00
The purpose of this funding is to develop and implement a Statewide Anti-Stigma campaign in partnership with the other Prevention Lead Organizations. This grant also provides the opportunity for regional adult intervention services focused on preventing suicide in adults age 18 and older. Under this grant, coalitions are given the opportunity to engage the communities in understanding Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) and substance use disorder among parenting and pregnant women. This grant also provides prevention education curricula specifically for children age 4 to 8 years old in the general population.

Family Resource Network Planning and Evaluation Grant

The purpose of this grant is to understand and respond to the needs and opportunities in specific counties in WV. West Virginia Prevention Solutions FRN Grant focuses solely on Harrison County. This grant strives to connect, encourage, and coordinate existing services and organizations to address needs of the children and families in the county. When needs arise that are not already being addressed, this grant supports organization networking to create new services.

Regional Adult Intervention Specialist (RAIS)

The purpose of this grant is to provide training and resources for suicide prevention, 988 outreach, and intervention services and connections for those experiencing mental health crises. This grant strives to reduce stigma and increase access to mental health crisis resources as well as services related to suicide prevention.
